Are you feeling a little bloated after the indulgences of Easter? I hear you. Its been a 4-day eggstravaganza, lots of foods, probably lots of wine and most definitely copious amounts of chocolate.
As the Easter break comes to an end I’m sure your jeans are feeling a little tighter, the head feeling a little heavier and the energy levels most definitely dwindling?
It’s totally understandable to feel below par. By the time Easter Monday hits we are in a definite slump. But don’t give yourself a hard time, we all over indulge and overindulge at Easter.
I’m sure you are totally ready for a health kick. And keep in mind, its only 3 months till Bikini Season. Don’t worry here are my top 5 tips for getting back on track
Share The Candy
You have probably still got tons of chocolate lying around the house. So bag up those extra candies. Share them around with friends, colleagues or family. Swap junk foods for wholesome foods which will give your body’s good bacteria a chance to do their job once again.
Set Yourself Attainable Goals
Starting your fitness kick with “Right, I am going to do 5 classes this week and only eat salads” can only last for so long. Setting small manageable goals is a lot easy to achieve and realistic.
Begin with small manageable chunks of exercise, 10/15 minutes. That you can easily fit into your schedule and that is achievable. After a few days increase the time you spend on your exercises to 20 minutes before you know it you will be back on track.
Don’t Go It Alone
When you recruit someone to exercise with you or you join an online plan you are being supported and encouraged to achieve your goals. A recent survey found 95% of those starting a weight loss/healthy eating plan completed the programme when accompanied by a friend or a support group.
Drink Plenty Of Water
After so many sugary drinks, including wine and fizz, the body can become extremely dehydrated (hence the headaches, irritability, and tiredness) Replenish the body with watery goodness – add some freshly squeezed lemon and limes to your water or perhaps slice up some mint and cucumber (these are great for detoxifying the body)
Don’t Starve Yourself
It feels tempting and so many of us do this, particularly after a period of overindulgence. But unfortunately, it doesn’t negate what has already been done. This type of behaviour just causes the body and mind to go into starvation mode. Starving yourself actually leads to weight gain. Just get back to eating foods that are rich in vitamins and minerals – wholegrains, fruits, vegetables and lean meats.
